Mark McDowell - Dark Weave (Album)

Don't judge by the title and the intro, this album by the psych-folk man from Bristol, Mark McDowell, finds its light and brings us it on a rotating platter. A few friends have got inside his vehicle including the entity hidden behind The Compleat Cannoniere, loyal for some years now.
Mark McDowell masters the ideals of the genre and weaves discreet synthetic oscillations on it in the middle of guitars, strings, percussions and voices. Dark Weave threads its musical pearls, of course there are rousing pieces like Look In The Dust and Forgiven but my favourite is the dazzling Light Of Love with its drones used as a departure runway.

The Compleat Cannoniere - A Handful Of Herbs (Album)

Already mentioned in the blog, the duo of explorers from Bristol has released a new collection of unplugged psychedelic songs. 14 acoustic and extatic folk tracks with as always a rich instrumentation.
Even if The Compleat Cannoniere defines itself as a band playing instruments without skills, the quality of the compositions does not suggest such a thing. A Handful Of Herbs allows to stock up on spices and and magic to prolong the summer and travel where the melodies are willing to carry us.
