Un album très psyché-folk de Silver Pools, projet de Todd Macdonald (The Winks, Loom...) entouré de pas mal de monde. Memoirs Of An Oblong Sphere est un premier album aux ambiances atmosphériques où s'entrecroisent sonorités acoustiques, synthétiseurs et drones qui peut prendre des aspects baroques sans lourdeurs.
Le titre Ice Cube In A Plastic Cup est un grand moment de cet album, mystérieux, avec ses refrains aux petits airs de Momus et sa mandoline translucide.
