Auparavant thème d'une chanson du précédent album The Monkeys In Love Take The Biscuit, New Stoke Newington a désormais tout un album qui lui est consacré.
Inspiré par des coins de Manchester nommés en référence à des quartiers londoniens, Monkeys In Love Live In New Stoke Newington met en musique la gentrification, ses lieux branchés et ses hipsters en quête de reconnaissance (un peu forcée ?) comme sur le titre Validate Me, où la communication humaine se retrouve pervertie par sa conception mercantile.
La tonalité générale ici tend largement vers le punk mais il faut plus d'un qualificatif pour cerner la musique de ce groupe fan de library music. Nappes de guitares et synthés forment les diverses couches de cette étrange écorce sonore un peu psyché.
Laura et Steve Simms-Luddington partagent et échangent leur voix et leur humour grinçant sur l'ensemble des 9 chansons dont Cocaine Radius, placé en plein milieu du disque, fait office de moment d'apesanteur dans cette joyeuse agitation.
