Ghost Trucker a été une sorte de projet transitoire pour Roald Van Oosten, leader de Caesar, un seul album a été sorti mais quel album ! Boîte-à-idées pleine à craquer, feu d'artifice mystique explosant en toutes directions, explorant les rêves parfois sombres de la pop. Chaque chanson s'ouvre comme une porte sur un nouveau monde imprévisible.
Elles se faufilent entre sons électro, beats parfois hip-hop, arrangements d'une grande sensibilité et s'appuient sur une composition sinueuse. Under The Stars touche la perfection, un titre dont la beauté des arrangements ne laisse pas indemne. Il en va de même pour Enemy Of Mine introduit par un piano lunaire et hanté par les différentes voix des musiciens. The Grand Mystique est un disque extravagant et noir, rempli d'images, d'imagination et d'étincelles.
Ghost Trucker was a kind of transitory project for Roald Van Oosten, leader of Caesar, only one album was released but what an album! A crowded out suggestion box, a mystic firework exploding in all directions, exploring the dreams sometimes dark of pop music. Each song opens like a door to a new unpredictable world.
They slip through electronic sounds, sometimes hip-hop beats, arrangements of a great sensibility and leaning on a sinuous composition. Under The Stars touches perfection, a track which beauty of arrangements leaves its mark on. This also applies to Enemy Of Mine introduced by a lunar piano and haunted by the different voices of the musicians. The Grand Mystique is an extravagant and dark record, full of images, imagination and sparks.

Album pop par excellence et OVNI complet, Animation doit être l'un des disques les plus originaux et surprenant sorti depuis des décennies, combinant l'inventivité du Song Cycle de Van Dyke Parks et la radicalité d'énergumènes comme The Residents dans un univers joyeux et ludique.
Les chansons de Tom Wilson ne sont pas forcément destinées à accueillir des couplets et des refrains mais se laissent aller où bon leur semble sur des formats courts racontant de petites histoires simples avec rebondissements et chute finale comme sur The Name Game ou le narrateur cherche désespérément un nom pour sa fille en consultant ses proches et finit par trouver avant que la sage-femme n'annonce un garçon. Construisant ses compositions comme un Lego, soignant les détails, intégrant quelques touches de jazz par-ci par-là, Tom Wilson a abouti a un "Palais Idéal", génialement bordélique sans jamais desservir les mélodies.
Pop album par excellence and complete UFO, Animation might be one of the most original and surprising records released in years, combining the inventiveness of Van Dyke Parks' Song Cycle and the radicalness of bizarre individuals like The Residents in a joyful and playful universe.
The songs of Tom Wilson are not necessary dessigned to receive verses and choruses but let themselves go where ever they want to on short formats telling short and simple stories with    unexpected development and ending as on The Name Game where the narrator desperately searches for a name for his daughter asking his relations and finally finding just before the midwife annouces a boy. Building his compositions like a Lego, taking care of the details, including some touches of jazz here and there, Tom Wilson ended in an 'Ideal Palace', brilliantly messy without ever harming the melodies.

Hidden Pop Classics est une sélection de disques qui m'ont marqués et n'ont jamais vieilli. Il n'est pas question ici de grands noms, quoiqu'ils le soient pour moi, mais de grands albums sortis à l'écart des projecteurs.

Hidden Pop Classics is a selection of records that marked me and never got old. It's not  about great names, even if they are for me, but great albums released away from the projectors.
