Victor Pope - Dear Humanity... (album)

Steven Vickers aka Victor Pope avait déjà été mentionné sur le blog avec sa formule "groupe". Cette fois-ci il est question de sa dernière sortie solo. Si l'humour sans manières de l'anti-folkeux (qui rappellera notre cher David Snug), fan de Daniel Johnston et Syd Barrett, est notable dès la lecture du titre de l'album, on se rend vite compte que le songwriting n'est pas laissé pour compte, ce qui se confirme écoute après écoute avec des chansons en particulier comme Monster, All 4 Luv et Number 1 Haircut qui sont celles qui m'accrochent le plus actuellement.

If the humour without manners  (that will remind my french readers our dear David Snug) of the anti-folk guy, fan of Daniel Johnston and Syd Barrett, is singnificant even on the album's title, his talent in songwriting appears quickly evident with songs like Monster, All 4 Luv and Number 1 Haircut which are actually my favourites.

Quel rapport entre Axl Rose et Mark Zuckerberg ? Pas de lien familial à priori, par contre si je vous ai déjà parlé de Paul Vickers, voici son frère Steven Vickers sous le nom Victor Pope. Paul est le frère de Steven et Steven le frère de Paul.
This Is Going To Hurt est-on averti. Les chansons qui composent cet album de The Victor Pope Band ne sont pas à prendre au premier degré mais comme l'agitateur qui remue votre café du matin, celui qui vous fait commencer la journée dans de bonnes conditions.
Provocatrices et drôles ces chansons entre anti-folk, punk et pop sont un régal, l'imitation d'Axl Rose au début d'About Facebook est bluffante mais moins chiante que l'original. Vous le voyez le rapport maintenant ? Beaucoup de hits dont Me and Donald Trump qui tient du génie.

Provocative and amusing these songs between anti-folk, punk and pop music are a delight, the imitation of Axl Rose on About Facebook intro is impressive but not boring as the original. You see the relation now? Lots of hits, like the fantastic Me and Donald Trump.

Enfant Bastard - Apple Tits For Destruction (Album)

Machine arrière, il y a 7 ans Cameron Watt officiant sous le nom Enfant Bastard n'avait pas encore tout lâché pour faire de l'électro-chip puis de la peinture. En 2011 donc Enfant Bastard donnait naissance à son dernier album anti-folk Apple Tits For Destruction.
Trésor lo-fi d'Édimbourg caché aux oreilles du monde, Enfant Bastard est aussi à l'aise dans ses chansons pop 60s (Honolulu, I wish I was a dead fast car) que dans ses enjambées punk (I Do, Twix) toujours avec une certaine bizarrerie art-brut percutante.
Tout ça pour dire que ce genre de musique me manque.

Lo-fi treasure form Edinburgh hidden to the world's ears, Enfant Bastard is as comfortable with 60s pop songs  (Honolulu, I wish I was a dead fast car) as with its punk strides (I Do, Twix), always with a certain striking art-brut oddity.
All this to say i miss this kind of music.

Faisons un petit voyage au pays des merveilles de la folk lo-fi avec cet album du duo Blurple datant de 2012 Rhythm & Blues & Purples, leur deuxième et dernier en date. Le groupe existe-t-il toujours? Peu d'informations sur eux ou alors j'ai mal cherché, ils semblent être de New-York, s'appeler Phoebe et Tommy, ils ont une page bandcamp.
Ils composent des chansons bizarres à deux voix avec guitares, kazoos, kalimbas, claviers... avec un goût pour les petites mélodies répétitives et hypnotisantes. Rhythm & Blues & Purples vous garantit un bon moment à la cool, seul(e) ou avec les gens que vous aimez.
