J'allais oublier d'en parler ici, mais comme chaque année la compilation You Don't Have To Be Fashionable vient de sortir et c'est le 6ème volume !
Et pourquoi pas une compilation avec uniquement des chansons en langues différentes cette année ?
Linda Hagood (Smack Dab) et Roald Van Oosten (Caesar, Ghost Trucker) issus de la scène alternative des années 90 ouvrent ce sixième volume, suivis de têtes connues déjà présentes dans d'autres volumes : Younolovebunny, Carton Sonore, Top Montagne/Trotski Nautique et Man Meets Bear ; et de nouvelles têtes : Calebass, Pedro Kastelijns, Fanikedi, Gli Insetti Nell'Ambra, Sycamore et l'expérimentateur expérimenté gallois Ash Cooke (Pulco) sous son nouveau projet Chow Mwng.

I almost forgot to talk about it on here but as every year the compilation You Don't Have To Be Fashionable is released and it's the 6th volume!
And why not a compilation with only songs in different languages this year?
Linda Hagood (Smack Dab) and Roald Van Oosten (Caesar, Ghost Trucker) coming from the 90s alternative scene open this sixth volume, followed by known heads present in previous compilations: Younolovebunny, Carton Sonore, Top Montagne/Trotski Nautique and Man Meets Bear; and new heads: Calebass, Pedro Kastelijns, Fanikedi, Gli Insetti Nell'Ambra, Sycamore and welsh experienced experimenter Ash Cooke (Pulco) under his new name Chow Mwng.

Benjamin Bleuez - CAC 40

Tourner en dérision l'univers de la finance sur une musique entêtante et printanière, c'est ce que fait Benjamin Bleuez avec le tout simplement nommé CAC 40. Il met en musique des extraits de documentaires mettant en valeur le grotesque, l'absurde et la déraison d'un milieu qui à coupé les ponts avec le reste du monde et quand il ne traite pas de la finance il alterne sur le caca, une mise en parallèle un peu potache mais universellement désacralisante.
Parlons musique maintenant, CAC 40 est une épopée psyché-pop fleurie, guitares, flûtes et synthés pas trop envahissants s'entremêlent dans un tourbillon lumineux donnant une touche presque fantastique à l'ensemble. Une mention spéciale pour le titre "CAC2 : Il Faut Aller Très Vite", acmé de cet album intrigant.

In this simply called CAC 40, Benjamin Bleuez mocks the financial world with a catchy spring music. Audio extracts of documentaries showing off the grotesque, absurd and foolishness of a middle that has broken the bridges with the rest of the world are put on music and when he's not dealing with finance he alternates with poop ('caca' in french sounds close to CAC 40), a schoolish parallel but universally desacralizing.
Let's talk about music now, CAC 40 is a flowery psychedelic-pop ride, guitars, flutes and not-too-invasive synths interweave in a shiny whirlpool adding a fantastic touch to the whole. A special mention to the track 'CAC2 : Il Faut Aller Très Vite', the climax of this intriguing album.

Palm - Into The Bulk & Ode To Scott (EPs)

J'ai aujourd'hui le plaisir de vous annoncer cette bonne nouvelle : l'indie rock n'est pas mort, il se porte même plutôt bien chez les new-yorkais Palm qui ont sorti deux excellents EPs en 2013. Alors d'accord c'est pas si récent que ça mais je viens de tomber dessus et le groupe n'a pas disparu pour autant. Réveillant les meilleures heures noisy de groupes comme Swirlies, Blonde Redhead, Fugazi et autres, le quatuor projette ses mélodies originales et aériennes au travers le mur du son.
Into The Bulk et Ode To Scott contiennent chacun trois titres de qualité avec l'agréable son un peu crado de l'indépendance que j'espère ils sauront garder dans leurs prochaines productions s'il y en a, ce que j'espère aussi. En attendant, ces 6 chansons sont un régal.

Today i have the pleasure to tell you this good news: indie rock is not dead, New-York's Palm who released two excellent EPs in 2013 even keep it in good health. So OK it was almost two years ago but i have just found them and the band is still active. Awakening the best noisy hours of bands like Swirlies, Blonde Redhead, Fugazi and others, te quartet throws its original and aerial melodies through the wall of sound.
Into The Bulk and Ode To Scott contain three quality songs each with the pleasant and the little bit dirty sound of independance that i hope they will keep on their next productions and i hope there will be new productions. Meanwhile, these 6 songs are a delight.
