La pop expérimentale et hybride des londoniens Now s'offre un cru 2024 bizarro-kraut-funk où la dimension rythmique des morceaux prend de l'ampleur. Le groupe continue de surprendre par son originalité et son habileté à jongler avec les instruments joués et programmés, acoustiques et électroniques, calme et énergie. Now est une bonne définition de l'harmonie somme toute et un groupe incontournable de la scène indé londonienne.

Now ramène son indie-kraut dans un album de chansons intitulé Functionality Is Convenient, faisant le choix d'un portail d'entrée de 12 minutes avec Away To The Library, Away To The Shops. S'ensuivent 14 autres morceaux divers et aventureux, plus ou moins pop, semisynthétiques, où se pose la voix calme de Justin Paton. Un album généreux en étonnements.

Fallopé & The Tubes est une sorte de collectif de 6 sœurs sorcières de Glasgow, comme elles l'exposent sur leur page bandcamp. en 2016, le label Soakin Records avaient sorti le très bon 2 titres Psychic Orgasm, elles ont depuis rempli leur bandcamp assez récemment je crois.
On y trouve cet excellent et atypique enregistrement live de 2019 qui, même sans images, laisse imaginer une performance punk, énergique et sacrément barrée.
Entre punk, krautrock et électro, alternativement ou simultanément, Full Fatt Comeback ne manque pas de surprendre son auditeur.

Fallopé & The Tubes is a knid of a collective of 6 witch sisters from Glasgow, as they present them on their bandcamp page. In 2016, the label Soakin Records had released their excellent 2 tracks Psychic Orgasm, recently i think, they have added lots of music on their bandcamp.
There this great and atypical live recording from 2019 which, even without images, lets imagine a punk performance, dynamic and nutty.
Between punk, krautrock and electronic, alternatively or simultaneously, Full Fatt Comeback does not fail to surprise its listener.

Ben Zár - There Is No Distortion In Heaven (Album)

Et si le paradis était tout ce qui n’est pas sur terre, un vide qui résonne en lui-même, aucune présence humaine excepté des imaginations errantes, la paix tout simplement. C’est cette impression qui ressort de cet album instrumental du Mexicain Ben Zár de Guadalajara, une musique atmosphérique, planante, répétitive, idéale pour se vider la tête.

Des airs de krautrock, de Joe Meek et d’électro douce. There Is No Distortion In Heaven est un agréable moment de pause, la tête dans les étoiles.

What if heaven was everything that’s not on earth, an emptiness resonating in itself, no human presence except wandering imaginations, just peace. It’s that impression that is brought out of this instrumental album by Ben Zár from Guadalajara, Mexico, an atmospheric music, mind blowing, repetitive, perfect to clear someone’s head.

A bit of krautrock, Joe Meek and soft electronics. There Is No Distortion In Heaven is a pleasant break with the head in the stars.

C'est toujours maintenant, en particulier depuis 1998, année de la création de now par Justin Paton. 20 ans a défier le temps musical : now était hier, est aujourd'hui et sera demain, évoluant dans un krautrock ludique, agrégat de loops et bidouillages électroniques, de guitares et d'instruments jouets : mélodica, toy piano et omnichord.

Formé autour du triple noyau Angela Last, George Chrysostomou et Justin Paton, le groupe est toujours resté fidèle à sa vision et son énergie d'impulsion sans jamais s'épuiser, choisissant un nom destiné à ne jamais appartenir au passé. Cette copieuse compilation rassemble 26 morceaux dessinant l'histoire d'un groupe clairement indépendant, curieux et libre qui aime jouer et bouger avec légèreté jusqu'à l'euphorie.

Pleasesorrythankyou, le nouvel album du collectif londonien now fondé en 1998 par Justin Paton sortira le 27 janvier prochain sur le label Mottomotto.
Dernier arrivé d'une importante discographie, Pleasesorrythankyou suit la logique exploratrice de ses créateurs, où chaque morceau développe une ou plusieurs idées distinctives. Tout en étant cohérent et bien construit l'album ne souffre d'aucune monotonie.
now est un grand carrefour où se croisent pop lo-fi, krautrock, électronique et noise rock. Les amateurs de ce dernier style apprécieront plus particulièrement la seconde face du disque, la première étant plus pop-expé, du début à la fin c'est un défilé d'anti-mode, de morceaux joyeusement bruts.

Benjamin Bleuez - CAC 40

Tourner en dérision l'univers de la finance sur une musique entêtante et printanière, c'est ce que fait Benjamin Bleuez avec le tout simplement nommé CAC 40. Il met en musique des extraits de documentaires mettant en valeur le grotesque, l'absurde et la déraison d'un milieu qui à coupé les ponts avec le reste du monde et quand il ne traite pas de la finance il alterne sur le caca, une mise en parallèle un peu potache mais universellement désacralisante.
Parlons musique maintenant, CAC 40 est une épopée psyché-pop fleurie, guitares, flûtes et synthés pas trop envahissants s'entremêlent dans un tourbillon lumineux donnant une touche presque fantastique à l'ensemble. Une mention spéciale pour le titre "CAC2 : Il Faut Aller Très Vite", acmé de cet album intrigant.

In this simply called CAC 40, Benjamin Bleuez mocks the financial world with a catchy spring music. Audio extracts of documentaries showing off the grotesque, absurd and foolishness of a middle that has broken the bridges with the rest of the world are put on music and when he's not dealing with finance he alternates with poop ('caca' in french sounds close to CAC 40), a schoolish parallel but universally desacralizing.
Let's talk about music now, CAC 40 is a flowery psychedelic-pop ride, guitars, flutes and not-too-invasive synths interweave in a shiny whirlpool adding a fantastic touch to the whole. A special mention to the track 'CAC2 : Il Faut Aller Très Vite', the climax of this intriguing album.

Broken Jokes - First & Second (Albums)

Installé depuis peu à Istanbul en Turquie, l'allemand Broken Jokes (moitié du duo Bisons) vient de sortir 2 albums : First et Second, un travail de musique contemplative dans le prolongement de sa passion pour la photographie notamment son travail sur les transports urbains, trains, couloirs de métro, foule affairée, passagers endormis, néons...
First est la partie post-rock, krautrock, on reconnait la touche guitaristique de Bisons, alors que Second tend plus vers la musique ambiant et le drone, l'ensemble forme une continuité assez cohérente et peut s'écouter comme un tout. On ferme les yeux, bon voyage.

Recently settled in Istanbul, Turkey, the german Broken Jokes (one half of Bisons) has just released 2 albums: First and Second, a contemplative musical work as an extension of his photographic passion notably his work on urban transports, trains, subway corridors, busy crowd, sleepy passengers, neons...
First is the post-rock, krautrock part where Bisons guitaristic touch is recognizable while Second tends more towards ambiant music and drone, the two albums forms a coherant continuity and can be considered as a whole. Time to close our eyes now, have a good trip.
