Chalk Joke - Taming The Tiger (album)

Pour les quelques lecteurs du blog ou auditeurs des compiles, Chalk Joke est la moitié du duo Greetings From The Beloved Ghosts. Taming The Tiger peut effectivement sonner comme une tentative de dompter un animal sauvage tant il semble se foutre des étiquettes. Bien que tendant plutôt vers une idée de la pop, s'y croisent des spasmes punk et hip-hop, des bizarreries et expérimentations. Difficile à saisir mais tout à fait appréciable pour les auditeurs curieux et aventureux par son esprit ludique et lo-fi.

For the few readers of the blog and listeners of the compilations, Chalk Joke is one half of Greetings From The Beloved Ghosts. Taming The Tiger can effectively sound like an attempt to tame a wild animal as it doesn't seem to care about musical genres. Althought the album tends towards an idea of pop music, punk and hip-hop spasm run into weirdness and experimentations. Hard to grasp but easily enjoyable for curious and adventurous listeners due to its lo-fi and playful mind

You Don't Have To Be Fashionable Vol.7 (Compilation)

Cette année la nouvelle compilation abrite l'unique Bing Selfish, trésor caché du DIY britannique depuis 30 ans ainsi que la folk lo-fi de Matthew Hattie Hein, membre fondateur des New Bad Things dans les années 90 dont les chansons furent reprises par the Delgados ou encore Hefner. Vous y trouverez aussi les barcelonais Kou Keri Kou dont les influences traversent la Méditerranée, un inédit transcendant de la canadienne Eiyn Sof qui a d'ailleurs présenté il y a peu un nouveau projet a tendance électronique The Hologlyph. Un peu de pop paritaire et lo-fi des Chiens De Faïence et Greetings From The Beloved Ghosts, les poèmes psychédéliques de Ray Kosmische, le punk-à-chambre décontracté du danois Tampopo et le duo féminin berlinois Liquorice. De Berlin aussi la moitié de Bisons, Broken Jokes, avec ses photographies musicales contemplatives et le groupe Adventure Team qui clôt avec les français Wonderflu cette compilation dans l'indie rock post-grunge. Et c'est toujours gratuit !

This year the new compilation hosts the unique Bing Selfish, hidden treasure of UK's DIY scene since 30 years along with the lo-fi folk of Matthew Hattie Hein, founding member of the New Bad Things in the 90s whose songs were covered by the Delgados and Hefner. You'll also find Kou Keri Kou from Barcelona with their influences crossing the Mediterranean sea, an unreleased transcendant track from the canadian Eiyn Sof who also presented recently a more electronic project The Hologlyph. A little bit of male/female vocals lo-fi pop from Chiens De Faïence and Greetings From The Beloved Ghosts, the psychedelic poetry of Ray Kosmische, the laid back bedroom-punk of Tampopo from Denmark and the female duo from Berlin Liquorice. From Berlin also one half of Bisons, Broken Jokes, with his contemplative musical photographs and the band Adventure Team who close with the french Wonderflu this compilation with post-grunge indie-rock.
