Beyza Yazgan - Human Cocoon (album)

Un voyage à New York et des années plus tard, voilà la musicienne turque Beyza Yazgan avec un album instrumental au piano. Les pièces, présentées comme issues d'improvisations méditatives, allient la légèreté d'un Satie aux colorations orientales dans des compositions à l'imagerie narrative. Certains ici se souviendront peut-être de ses petites chansons lo-fi (il y a une douzaine d'années), la métamorphose dans ce Human Cocoon est faite mais on retrouve bien sûr la singularité de Beyza Yazgan dans ses mélanges d'influences et originalités. Sur Haiku Tune, par exemple, le piano est discrètement soutenu par un air fredonné, on reprend son souffle au milieu du disque avant de replonger dans les notes célèstes.

Peter Forman - Peter, Who Are You? (EP)

Au revoir On Lâche Les Chiens, à bientôt peut-être. Bonjour Peter Forman. Ce nouveau projet de Pierre Fourmeau range la guitare et les loops pour un piano-voix surprenant dans les marécages intérieurs brumeux de l'esprit. Ce premier EP a été enregistré live devant public lors de son premier concert sous ce nom, le résultat n'en est pas moins très bon.

This new project of Pierre Fourmeau puts the guitars and loops away for a surprising piano-voice performance in the misty inner marshes of the mind. Naoto Kawate, Soren Brothers - Kyoto, Logan (Album)

Musique à écouter, musique à jouer. Le musicien japonais Naoto Kawate à ouvert au public les partitions de ses compositions. Son ami canadien Soren Brothers (Man Meets Bear) les a joué et enregistré.
Il s'agit de 9 pièces de 2 ou 3 minutes en moyenne, jouées au piano. Chacune de ces petites pièces a sa propre personnalité et fait de ce Kyoto, Logan un agréable voyage musical transpacifique. Ce pourrait être un film imaginaire tant ces pièces créent chacune sa scène, son plan, son décor.

Music to listen to, music to play. The japanese musician Naoto Kawate shared to the public the music sheets of his compositions. His canadian friend Soren Brothers (Man Mets Bear) played them and recorded them.
There are 9 pieces of 2 or 3 minutes on average, played on piano. Each one of these pieces has its own personality and make this Kyoto, Logan a pleasant transpacific musical trip. It could be an imaginary movie, each piece creates its scene, its shot and its set.

Hamish Hawk - Swannanoa (EP)

Le jeune songwriter Édimbourgeois Hamish Hawk débarque à l'improviste avec au fond de ses poches trois précieuses chansons bordées au piano et écrites en Amérique.
Mine de rien, cette petite transmission folk et rêveuse est à ne pas rater pour les amateurs du genre, on s'y réchauffe comme au coin du feu, les arrangements minimaux jouent les flammes qui font danser les ombres.
Hamish Hawk se confirme compositeur et auteur talentueux dépouillant sa voix des quelques artifices que l'on pouvait rencontrer sur son premier album Aznavour sorti en 2014. Espérons que cet EP soit suivi d'un nouveau disque prochainement.

The young songwriter from Edinburgh Hamish Hawk shows up with three precious songs deep inside his pockets, tucked up with piano and written in America.
Though discreet, this little folk and dreamy transmission is not-to-be-missed for the genre lovers, warming like by the fireside, the minimal arrangements play the flames that make the shadows dance.
Hamish Hawk confirms himself as a talented composer stripping his voice of the few artifices that could be heard on his first album Aznavour released in 2014. I hope this EP will soon be followed by a new record soon.

Andrianette - Mπλάντυ Mέρρυ / Bloody Merry (Album)

11 chansons d’Andrianette au piano dans lesquelles la tonalité omniprésente est aux zones d'ombres. Mπλάντυ Mέρρυ, Bloody Merry donc, littéralement, phonétiquement. Du piano oui, mais pas que, autour de la voix d'Andrianette posant ses poèmes hantés viennent virevolter interférences, chuchotements et apparitions.
Mπλάντυ Mέρρυ pourrait presque servir de bande son pour une adaptation grecque de la légende mexicaine de la Llorona. Bon, cette idée, c’est peut-être parce que mes connaissances en grec sont très limitées et que les traductions en ligne ne sont pas très fiables donc ma perception de la trame qui parcourt ces chansons n’est pas très précise. Andrianette laisse à l'auditeur le choix entre deux fins possible pour son album : sanglante ou joyeuse. Ok, je n'écouterai pas cet album pour mettre l'ambiance dans une soirée entre amis. Quoi que... Mais Mπλάντυ Mέρρυ est une expérience sensorielle qui vaut la peine d'être écoutée, réécoutée et qui mérite le temps d'être apprivoisée.

11 songs on the piano by Andrianette in which the ever-present tone belongs to the dark sides. Mπλάντυ Mέρρυ, Bloody Merry so, litteraly and phonetically. Yes, there is piano but not only, around Andrianette's voice landing her haunted poems come spinning interferences, murmurs and apparitions.
Mπλάντυ Mέρρυ could almost be used as a soundtrack for a greek adaptation of the mexican legend of La Llorona. Well, this idea, maybe it is because my knowledge in greek is very light and online translations are not very reliable so my perception of the thread that runs through these songs is not very accurate. Andrianette leaves it up to the listener to choose between two alternative endings for the album: Bloody or Merry. Ok, i wouldn't play this album to liven things up at a party with friends. Well, maybe... But Mπλάντυ Mέρρυ is a sensory experience that is worth listening, listening again and that deserves the time to be tamed.
